  • Finished reading: Path of Stars by David North πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

My least favorite of the series since book one, I finished this last night. The one places more emphasis on the main character, which is good but abandons almost all the other ones. It’s also a bit…meandering. Still, excited for the next one.

A book cover displays 'PATH OF STARS' in large letters with the author's name 'David North' below. Three moons, a compass rose, and celestial elements set against a starry sky above classical columns.

I finished reading this last night (woke up with the kindle on my chest)… 🀭 It’s the fourth of the series and progresses nicely but leaves you with a giant cliffhanger. 😱 That said, each book is better than the previous.

  • Year In Books - 2023

I didn’t get nearly as much reading done in 2023 as I’d planned but that’s just the way the cookies crumble. I plan to do more reading in 2024 and spend some of my reading time focusing on books outside the fantasy / sci-fi genre. Note: I only started using … read more

  • Finished reading: Moonlight Relic by David North πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

In third of the series, the main character (Sam) really starts coming into his own…with a remarkable and rather unbelivable number of twists. Parts of the story are rather predictable but others, you never see them coming. 🀣

  • Finished reading: Aster Fall by David North πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

The second of the series, this picks up right after the first and the main character (and secondary ones) progresses (it is LitRPG after all) nicely, setting the stage for bigger progression in the next book.

  • Finished reading: Battlefield Reclaimer by David North πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

This book, a re-read for me, is the first book of the Guardian of Aster Fall series and in my opinion, sets up the universe for said series rather nicely. The character development is decent and the RPG improvement system is very cool.

  • Finished reading: Second Hand by Heidi Cullinan πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

This was a re-read, from many years ago (it was one of the first e-books I bought, this story is light and fluffy with a predictable ending…and an adorable puppy. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Book cover art for Second Hand.

  • Finished reading: The Unlikely Heir by Jax Calder πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

Fun, light, fluffy…with just a hint of substance, this book was a fun read. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

  • Finished reading: Dead Tired by Ravens Dagger πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†

A fun, if silly read, with a lot of puns. πŸ˜† It presents an interesting intersection between science and magic but I wish there was a little more details into the magic system.

  • Finished reading: Imperial Wizard: Ambitions by J Parsons πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†

Somewhat predictable, the second book in the series continues right where the first left off. Events turn out for the best but more than a few questions are raised about how things will go in the future. 🀭

  • Finished reading: Imperial Wizard by J Parsons πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†

This was a fun read, a magic users sleeps through what seems to be many cataclysms, awaking to a changed world, one where no one else knows how to use his type of magic.

  • Finished reading: Weeping Of Willows by Brandon Cook πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

The second book of the series, I thought this was going to be predictable but it took some interesting and unexpected turns. I’m excited for the next book in the series (I really hate having to wait for “next books” πŸ˜†).

  • Finished reading: The House of Fire by Brandon Cook πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

I seem to be reading a lot of LitRPG books lately (as a recovering gaymer, that isn’t shocking), this one was a fun read. The main character slowly becomes more than he started and it’s predictable but still enjoyable.

  • Finished reading: Loremaster by M.E. Robinson πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

Another one in the LitRPG genre, I was pleasantly surprised by this book; it started off slow but I became very invested in the story relatively fast. The class / magic system isn’t as well defined as other books but it’s a very good read. πŸ‘πŸ»

  • Finished reading: Rune Seeker by J.M. Clarke & C.J. Thompson πŸ“š
    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

Stumbled upon this book and started/finished it in two days. If you’re a ga(y)mer or enjoy LitRPG as a genre, you’ll love this book. The magic system is fascinating, as is the backstory/history of the world in the book. πŸ‘πŸ»
